You may be getting a few more welcome hours of sleep. Your toddler is probably engaging with you to a greater extent than before and starting to explore the world around. They can hold their head up and are even starting to roll over. Their trunk muscles are getting stronger in preparation for crawling and walking. With all this change come inevitable challenges especially in the musculoskeletal system. Imbalances which were relatively insignificant in the early weeks take on a greater importance and can disrupt the establishment of movement patterns. Limb asymmetries start to show up. Once the toddlers start moving and weight-bearing the inevitable falls and knocks start to appear. This is often the time when we get the babies we saw as new-borns back into the clinic again for assessment and a general mechanical tune-up. We can check on their general development and make relevant recommendations. Conditions we treat:Muscular skeletal & postural issues
In older children we deal with sports injuries as well as other musculoskeletal conditions such as scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and postural issues. Developmental delay in childrenWe also advise and device excercise programmes for children with neurodevelopment syndromes such as dyslexia and ADHD as well as more profound developmental delay. We also have much experience with children with neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy.
